John is experienced in the area of Family Law. He has advised clients on countless Separation Agreements and Family Court matters.  He is trained in Collaborative practice and has worked at law firms in Simcoe County and Waterloo Region. He has argued cases at all levels of Court in Ontario including the Ontario Court of Appeal. 

John has expertise in many different areas of Family Law including Parenting (Custody/Access), Child Support, Spousal Support, Property Division and Equalization, Restraining Orders, Family Responsibility Office matters, Marriage Contracts and Cohabitation Agreements.

There are many different process choices in a family law matter. John is equally comfortable negotiating out of Court, or representing clients in Family Court. Because of the greater emotional and financial cost of Family Court proceedings, John helps clients to consider alternative options and processes before going to Family Court. 

John is familiar with a wide variety of alternative dispute resolution processes and has advised clients who have participated in Mediation, Collaborative family law and other processes.

John served in the Canadian Army Reserve from 2002 to 2011 in the Infantry and Artillery corps. Today he spends his spare time skiing or at the family cottage in Muskoka with his wife Laura.
